Spiritual Direction

I offer spiritual direction for those wishing to explore their spiritual life more deeply.

While my background is primarily in the Theravada and Tibetan Buddhist traditions, I also have a wide range of experience in traditions such as Centering Prayer (Christian), non-dual teachings (Advaita Vedanta), the Diamond Heart Approach (Sufi related), Holotropic Breathwork, Authentic Movement, and shamanism (Native American spirituality). I believe the mystical cores of all spiritual and religious traditions have much in common, including many of the challenges and joys that arise with long-term spiritual practice. Therefore, I offer guidance and direction for people of all traditions.

Some common issues I work with:

  • How to contact one’s true purpose and build a life that serves such a purpose.
  • How to stay focused on one’s spiritual aspirations in the midst of busy lives.
  • How to work with physical challenges and chronic pain.
  • How to work with the difficult emotions such as fear, shame, sadness and others.
  • How ethics can be a catalyst on the spiritual path.
  • How to prevent spiritual practice from strengthening your inner critic. The spiritual super-judge is very common and often quite unconscious.
  • How to find spiritual growth in difficult experiences such as the loss of a loved one, or the ending of a relationship.
  • How to bring your spiritual path to bear on daily challenges such as work, raising a family, running a household and so forth.
