Let Be, Let Flow, Let Go

The Theme – Let Be, Let Flow, Let Go

Can you be open-hearted with the tough stuff and the easy stuff, not rejecting the painful or grasping the pleasant? Can you flow with the all the complexities and changes that life throws at you? Can you be kind to yourself while challenging yourself to learn and grow? Can you let go of the small, separate self and open to your true nature of being and belonging? With the help of Buddhist meditative practices, the answer to all these questions can be yes.

In particular, the group will focus on impermanence. Although change often feels like an enemy, it is the most fundamental truth of life, and we must learn to dance with it. We can do so by meditating on the moment-to-moment flux of experience, seeing the way thoughts, images, emotions and sense impressions are constantly changing. Seeing this microscopically helps us adapt to the inevitable bigger changes of life. Practice helps us see that we don’t have to let go as much as let flow; all difficulties are changeable and are thus more workable than we make them out to be.

The group is based in the ancient and powerful Buddhist meditative practices of mindfulness and lovingkindness. Participants will explore Peter’s unique take on these practices, developed through decades of practice and teaching. The group will help participants:

  • Be better able to focus the mind in meditation.
  • Be more skillful in navigating emotions. The magic of meditation allows us to move closer to our emotions and be bigger than them at the same time; to accept them more and believe them less.
  • Develop kindness towards oneself exactly as one is.
  • Develop resiliency and strength in the face of change.
  • Access being and belonging through true letting go.

The Power of Sangha

The group will create community through group meditation practice, dharma discussions and interactive exercises. The group creates a safe and stimulating container for participants to share their hearts and bond with one another.

The group will go deeper if comprised of participants who are interested in meditating regularly and regularly attending the meetings and retreats. Participants who have struggled for years to have a daily practice have been able to do so through this DPG. Group practice is contagious!

Dates and Key Information

For the weekly meetings, participants will attend two separate groups, with in person folks on Mondays and online folks on Wednesdays. To be clear, you attend only one night a week. The two groups combine in hybrid mode for three daylongs.

Comments from Participants

“I am a long-time meditator, but the teachings offered by Peter vastly improved my meditation practice. He offered Buddhist wisdom and meditation techniques that I had not been exposed to previously. His teaching style is very clear, thought-provoking, and fun! He created a very safe and playful environment with the weekly practice group that was extremely supportive. After several months of weekly practice and dharma talks, along with regular day long practice retreats, I definitely feel a shift in my whole being. I feel more gentleness and compassion, and there is a softening of my tendencies to hold onto specific views and outcomes.”

– Shara, Boulder, CO

“Peter is a wise and gifted teacher. Through his skillful stewardship, the group itself becomes a teacher in dharma and supports practice on and off the cushion. The longevity and intimacy of the DPG experience has transformed my relationship with myself, maybe with everything, by dismantling a deep sense of isolation and dislocation.”

– Cynthia, Berthoud, CO

“Peter’s warmth and humor made his group feel immediately welcoming for me as a relatively new meditator. I learned so much that I could put straight to use. As someone who values community building, I also appreciated the efforts he made to connect us as a group.”

– Glenn, Boulder, CO

“Peter’s group was rewarding in many ways. First, he is a truly amazing teacher with many years of experience both leading multi-day retreats, and attending personal retreats. In addition to sharing his wisdom and experience, he has a skillful way of bringing group members into the discussions. He creates a safe container so you feel that you can share and be heard. I especially liked the way he would weave humor into the evening. I am so grateful to have been part of Peter’s group as his teachings have been a valuable gift to me.”

– Darcy, Boulder, CO

“This group was, as is typical of Peter’s groups, a great way to learn valuable lessons about meditation and to deepen personal insight. I always get much from his groups, not only from the content but also because of his vulnerability and humanity.”

– Eric, Golden, CO
